This is a rare beast indeed!
This Hofner Bass has been plucked from the pages of history, given a sympathetic dusting off, and considerately and carefully brought back to life with a few genuine Hofner components. What results is true vintage tones with added reliability and peace of mind! The neck has been reset, the bridge is all-new, and new electronics have been fitted, all matching the original spec.
Made famous by the original bass-player for The Beatles, Stuart Sutcliffe, the original 500/5 has become as desirable and in-demand as it has hard to find. But we have one in store, and it is a truly magnificent specimin!
As is befitting of an instrument of this age and reputation, there is character in spades. The classic bluesy rock tones of the late 50s and early 60s remain as potent as the day it was made, and as with all instruments of this age the weathered looks really add to the spectacle! This was and is a bass that is meant to be played, and so has been played its entire life, the sign of a great guitar indeed!
This bass is a true bona-fide classic, a real piece of history.
